We took a leave last Friday to finish most of our paperwork. We headed on to the Marikina City Hall to file for our marriage license. Super efficient nila. The lady at the window gave us forms to fill out, along with a slip of paper wherein we had to pay to the cashier (an amount of P50) … for something… I forgot :) When we went to a sort of waiting area to fill out the forms, the lady guard asked me for the P50 and the slip of paper so that she could pay the fee for us while we fill up the forms. I’m usually not very receptive to favors from strangers, for good reasons. But this time, I just handed her the P50 and went on our way filing the forms. To my surprise she came back with the same slip of paper, and said the fee was paid already. True enough, after filling the forms, we got a receipt for the P50… AKALAIN MO YUN? :) I was blessed to have met honest strangers that day. :) Downside lang of the marriage license application in Marikina, is that we were still required to attend the marriage and family planning counselling given by the City Hall.Here are the steps and the requirements.

Requirements for Marriage License Application in Marikina City Hall (as of April 16, 2010)

  1. Original and Photocopy of Birth or Baptismal Certificate
  2. Original and Photocopy of valid ID
  3. for the resident in Marikina, you need: the original and photocopy of your CTC

Just get your forms at Window 19, fill them up and pay the required fees. I think it was P150. They will then let you go to the Marikina City Health Office, a few buildings away from the City Hall to get your schedule for the seminar. So when you go there, you have to pay P150 again for the marriage counselling/family planning seminar and go up to the 5th floor to fill out a “Marriage Expectation Inventory”. I was surprised that it was in FILIPINO! Man… what a challenge… so malamang, ang sagot dapat in Filipino rin… darn hehe. It took a while lang but we finished it. After completing the Marriage Expectation Inventory you sign up for the next schedule of the seminar. Usually it’s a 1 day thing, that runs every Mondays and Tuesdays, 9:00am-5:00pm.

In the website of Marikina City, they said that the seminar was only held on Fridays. I guess they changed the seminar date but I guess they were not able to update the website. Too bad. After paying all fees, we decided that we should instead apply for a marriage certificate in Pasig haha! The Pasig City Hall acknowledges the church seminar we attended so we decided to go to Pasig! haha! :)

Requirements for Marriage License Application in Pasig City Hall (as of April 16, 2010)

  1. Original Copy of Birth Certificate
  2. Original Copy of CENOMAR
  3. Original Copy of church seminar certificate
  4. for the Pasig Resident: Barangay Clearance (requirements for this would be your Voter’s ID and a cedula/CTC)
  5. 1×1 ID pictures (2pcs)

In Pasig naman, there was no need to take another day off for the seminar. Weee! :)

Don’t worry, your original documents will be returned to you together with your marriage license : ) We get our license in 10 days! Can’t wait! :D
